Services Offered Quilt Prep

Edge-to-edge/pantograph is a continuous design that goes from one edge of the quilt to the other disregarding all piecing designs. The pattern can be oriented lengthwise or widthwise of the quilt. I have 200+ patterns. There are 2 levels of pricing on pantographs. Group 1 includes the majority of patterns. These have a low to medium density of quilting; there could be some points or stitching direction reversals. Group 2 are the most intricate of the designs. The stitching density is very high, there are many points and direction changes or the designs are very small, therefor are priced higher than Group 1.

Custom quilting is anything that is not an edge-to-edge design. Custom quilting ranges from freehand to regular custom to heirloom and is priced depending on difficulty. Freehand is quilting that is just freehanded using no stencils or templates and is stitched row by row. Regular custom is done using stencils and templates and includes such things as feathers, stitch-in-the-ditch, continuous curve, ropes/cables, echoing and other mid-level techniques. Heirloom includes techniques such as trapunto, cross-hatching, micro-stippling and other time consuming quilting.

Machine basting is available for those who love to hand quilt their tops. A long stitch is used to baste the layers together in a grid approximately 6” square. Long thread ends are brought to the quilt front approximately every 18” –24” for ease in removal.

Binding and hanging sleeves. All parts of the binding process are offered, from making the binding, to machine attaching it to the quilt top to hand stitching the binding down on the quilt back.

Backing preparation would include cutting and piecing fabric to make a backing to fit your quilt top.

Piecing services is for those who have UFO’s (UnFinished Objects) or PIBs (Projects in Bags) that need finishing and either don’t know how to finish them or don’t want to work on them.

Batting prep would include piecing batting if needed, preshrinking cotton batting, or fluffing up wrinkled batting.

Commissioned pieces would include bed quilts, baby quilts, table runners, wall-hangings or other items made to your specifications of design and color.

Individualized instruction. One-on-one help either in person, by phone or email for whatever quilting questions you have.

Teaching a piecing class: Anything from Quilting 101 to Feathered Stars. Gather a group of 4 or more for a specific class that you want to learn and I’d be happy to teach it.
